Got a call from Tower Insurance today, they only got my claim form on Tuesday but have approved it already and the money should go in to my bank account tonight! (for those who didn’t know, my flat was broken into a couple of weeks ago while my flatmate and I were out at work, and my iMac, some associated bits and pieces, jewellery, fragrance and alcohol were taken)
I really have to commend Tower, they’ve been great to deal with over the phone, and although I didn’t get as much as I expected on some of the items they were really generous with my computer considering it’s four years old. I was wondering whether I’d even get enough for a cheap laptop but with what they’ve given me I could get a reasonable PC-type notebook or a refurbished 13″ MacBook Pro. However I’ve decided I want a digital camera now so I think I’ll get that and a couple of things I want for my trip, and just go without a nice computer for a few months while I save the extra to get a refurbished 15″ MacBook Pro. No more shivering at my desk in my bedroom next winter – I’ll be able to relax on the couch in front of the fire with a new notebook!
AND… I’ll be able to include some images on here (maybe even a photo album if I get around to it)!
It’s always good when insurance companies are actually helpful, especially given the stressful situation of being burgled.
Yay for a digi cam, what kind are you going to go for?
I like the look of the Fujifilm F70EXR, I’m hoping it’ll come up on special before I leave! There’s a Sony one that looks good too, but I don’t know which would be better/more suitable for me. I want a compact one that I can put in my handbag but still takes great photos.
